Gupta's path involved a victory in the Miss World Top Model category, which moved her into the Top 40. She next broke into the Top 5 of the Asia & Oceania category before securing her position among the Top 20.

The pageant had representation from 108 nations, and the final was judged by a prestigious panel that consisted of Julia Morley, Sonu Sood, Sudha Reddy, and Carina Tyrrell.
