Having endured severe heatwave conditions, the residents of Delhi now stand to gain some relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms on June 14. The weather change should lower temperatures as well as improve the air in the whole region.

Weather Change and Forecast Details

IMD is forecasting moderate to light rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds at speeds of 40-50 kmph.

The maximum temperature is expected to stay at 39-41 degrees Celsius, and the minimum will remain 28-30 degrees Celsius.

These are the weather conditions which are also likely to be present for the next five days, giving relief from the heatwave again.

Impact on Delhi-NCR

The rain is expected to give relief from the hot conditions that saw the mercury rise above 43 degrees Celsius some days ago.

Humidity will rise but cloud cover and rain will moderate the daytime heat.

The IMD has cancelled the orange alert for the heatwave condition, which suggests a shift to a more comfortable climate.

Monsoon Progress and Future Forecast

The southwest monsoon is advancing at a fast pace and is expected to reach Delhi towards the end of the third week of June, nearly 10 days ahead of time.

Pre-monsoon showers will continue intermittently, reconditioning the city for the full brunt of monsoon showers.

As rain and thunderstorms are on the cards, Delhiites are in for cooler days and much-relief from the suffocating heat of summer.
