Amazon has officially rolled out its quick commerce service, Amazon Now, in Bengaluru, stepping into India’s fast-paced delivery scene, which is currently led by Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart. This new service promises to deliver groceries, daily essentials, snacks, and more within just 10 to 30 minutes. Right now, it’s available in three Bengaluru pincodes, with plans for rapid expansion in the near future.
Key Highlights:
• Amazon Now is built on a successful pilot program and is backed by 10 to 15 dark stores throughout Bengaluru, which help facilitate hyperlocal logistics and speedy fulfillment.
• This launch comes at a time when Indian consumers are moving away from the traditional 1 to 2-day delivery model, opting instead for instant 10-minute services. In fact, quick commerce platforms are projected to make up over two-thirds of online grocery orders by 2024.
• With Amazon entering the fray, we can expect increased competition, validation of the quick commerce model, and a push for innovation, as the market is anticipated to grow by over 40% annually through 2030, potentially reaching a whopping $57 billion.
• While Amazon Now is currently focused on groceries and essentials, there are plans to branch out into beauty, home, and kitchen categories in the near future.
Outlook:
With Amazon’s vast resources and logistics capabilities, the quick commerce landscape in Bengaluru is about to get a major shake-up. As competition heats up, consumers can look forward to quicker deliveries, a wider range of products, and aggressive market growth in the coming months.
