A pioneering GSMA report revealed at MWC25 Barcelona points out the revolutionary value of mobile phone repair and refurbishment in preventing e-waste. The report, surveying more than 10,000 consumers in 26 countries, finds that fixing and refurbishing mobile phones can cut carbon emissions by 80-90% versus producing new ones. With 70% of consumers worldwide ready to pay a premium for sustainable devices, the circular mobile market is expected to reach over $150 billion by 2027. Leading telecom companies are already adopting circular business models, in line with upcoming regulations encouraging device longevity and repairability.
