Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) dispatched its inaugural shipment of Benzyl Chloride from its cutting-edge Chlorotoluenes Plant in Dahej. This achievement represents an important milestone for GACL in its growth plans, solidifying its focus on specialty chemical manufacture.
Highlights:
✅ First Dispatch Done: GACL delivered its first consignment of Benzyl Chloride on April 21, 2025, after the virtual flag-off by Managing Director Avantika Singh, IAS.
✅ Biggest Chlorotoluenes Plant: The plant, commissioned by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel on March 29, 2025, has an annual capacity of 30,000 MT.
✅ Expansion of Product Portfolio: The plant will produce 13,200 MTPA Benzyl Chloride, 9,600 MTPA Benzyl Alcohol, and 7,200 MTPA Benzaldehyde, for pharmaceutical, perfumery, and solvent segments.
✅ Economic Impact: The project will yield ₹400 crore in revenue annually, of which ₹130 crore will be exports to Europe, the USA, and South Asia.
✅ Employment Growth: The plant will generate 150–200 direct employment opportunities and 800–1000 indirect employment opportunities, adding to India's chemical industry growth.
Through this strategic move, GACL is set to enhance its market presence, reaffirming its focus on innovation and sustainability.
