In a major leap for India's semiconductor sector, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai laid the foundation stone for the nation's first Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor manufacturing unit in Nava Raipur on April 11, 2025. From Chennai-based Polymatech Electronics, the project is the first major move towards India shedding its semiconductor import dependence and becoming a world-tech powerhouse.

Investment and Production: The factory entails an investment of ₹1,143 crore, with a target to manufacture as much as 10 billion chips every year by 2030.

Technology and Applications: The factory will manufacture advanced GaN chips, which are faster, more energy-efficient, and extremely durable. These chips will drive next-generation 5G and 6G networks, high-performance laptops, defense technologies, data analytics, and advanced power electronics.
