S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India, underscored the vision of health-centered development and international cooperation espoused in the Indian context at the 12th International Patient Safety Conference. He said that India had been acting as the first provider of assistance and as a development partner in international endeavors for global health, citing the 'Vaccine Maitri' program during COVID-19 and recent delivery of medical assistance to countries such as Gaza, Syria, and Afghanistan. Jaishankar mentioned the fact that India was executing just over 600 development projects in 78 nations across different sectors, a good portion of them in the health sector. He laid stress on partnerships and alliances with other countries in order to improve health systems and increase access to healthcare at affordable rates across the world.
