On the occasion of International Labour Day 2025, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) introduced a heart-touching digital film named "Hands That Speak" in appreciation of the valued contributions of employees with speech and hearing disability at its flagship production plant in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu.
The film, shown in its entirety in Indian Sign Language (ISL) with subtitles, offers a close-up glimpse of the work and lives of these co-workers, showing how their silence is a rich language of strength, precision, and pride. In contrast to the lively hum of the factory, it showcases GCPL's commitment to inclusion, equity, and empowerment.
With nearly 30 million people with disabilities in India but only 11% meaningfully employed, GCPL's initiative puts spotlight on how this gap could be bridged by making workplaces inclusive. Though 5% of the worker strength at Chengalpattu is people with disabilities, this action by GCPL talks volumes of a future-proof culture with diversification.
