NTPC Limited, India's largest power generation company, declared today that it has successfully commenced commercial operations on the last 60 MW stage of its 150 MW Gujarat Solar PV Project. The project, now completed, developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd-a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd-becomes completely operational with this achievement.
The 60 MW capacity, which was commissioned on 16th April 2025, marks the culmination of the project launch. The previous phases of 60 MW and 30 MW were declared operational in July and December 2024, respectively. The achievement is part of NTPC's broader initiative to expand its renewable energy portfolio in support of national and international sustainability efforts.
Following Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited's (GUVNL) Phase XII 500 MW solar tender, the project is in line with NTPC's vision for energy transition via clean energy. Already operational with over 3 GW of renewable energy capacity, NTPC is further setting itself in the clean energy movement in India with a target of 60 GW by 2032.
The firm's latest operational landmark not only establishes its place in the renewable energy sector but also plays a crucial part in the state and country's clean energy ambitions.
