Renowned choreographer and reality show judge Geeta Kapur has weighed in on the long-standing debate about whether reality shows are scripted. Speaking on Bharti Singh and Harssh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, Kapur addressed the skepticism surrounding the authenticity of reality television.

She acknowledged that while certain elements of storytelling are structured, the emotions and reactions of participants remain genuine. Kapur emphasized that if reality shows were purely scripted, she would have pursued a different career. She pointed out that contestants often leave the stage in tears, realizing that the experiences they assumed were staged are, in fact, real.

Using Bigg Boss as an example, Kapur explained that a show with 24-hour surveillance cannot be entirely scripted. She also highlighted the role of writers in shaping narratives, ensuring that audiences connect with contestants beyond their performances.

Reflecting on her experiences, Kapur shared fond memories of meeting Mithun Chakraborty during auditions in Kolkata. She described the thrill of interacting with legendary figures, something she believes only television can offer.

Her insights provide a nuanced perspective on the reality show industry, balancing the need for structured storytelling with the authenticity of human emotions.
