Harbour Line train services between CSMT and Panvel will be suspended on October 19, 2025, from morning to evening due to a major mega block for maintenance and safety upgrades. Alternative train arrangements and travel options via other suburban routes will be available for commuters.
Mumbai local train commuters on the Harbour Line should brace for disruptions on Sunday, October 19, 2025, as Central Railway announces a mega block impacting services between CSMT and Panvel. The suspension is part of crucial engineering and maintenance work aimed at enhancing infrastructure safety and reliability across this key suburban corridor that serves thousands daily.
Service Suspension and Timings
Harbour Line train operations between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra (down direction) will be halted from 11:40 AM to 4:40 PM, while services from Chunabhatti/Bandra to CSMT (up direction) will remain suspended from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM. This suspension extends to trains operating between CSMT and Panvel/Belapur from late morning until early evening, affecting both UP and DOWN local train movements during these hours.
Special Arrangements for Commuters
To alleviate inconvenience, Central Railway will run special shuttle trains every 20 minutes between Panvel and Kurla (Platform 8) throughout the block period. Additionally, commuters on the Harbour Line are advised to use alternate routes via the Main Line and Western Railway between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM to reach their destinations. Passengers planning to travel should anticipate possible delays and longer journey times due to these operational changes.
Impact on Long-Distance Services
Besides the local train disruption, several express and mail trains running on Central Railway’s main line between Vidyavihar and Thane will be diverted or delayed by approximately 10 to 15 minutes due to track work on the 5th and 6th lines. The mega block underscores the ongoing commitment of railway authorities to maintain and upgrade Mumbai’s complex suburban network.
No block on Western Railway
The Western Railway suburban section, in contrast, will have no mega block on October 19, 2025, allowing smooth travel for users during the festive Diwali weekend, when passenger volumes traditionally rise.
Given the essential nature of these works to ensure passenger safety and service quality, commuters are requested to cooperate and plan accordingly for their travel on October 19.
