In a recent announcement, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has laid claim to National Highway 44 as India's longest highway, covering 4,112 kilometers. The National Highway stretches from Srinagar in the north, deep in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir, to Kanyakumari at the southern tip of India, passing through 11 states. NH 44 is longer than the new Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and forms an important part of the transportation networks across India. The highway traverses major cities such as Delhi, Agra, Nagpur, and Hyderabad, allowing for the movement of trade and travel between them. The highway is a testament to India's vast network of roads and illustrates a commitment to development and connectivity.
