The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new pilot program named 'Hunar Haath', which will train young people in job skills for domestic services such as cooking, cleaning, care-giving, and upkeep of the home. The program will be implemented in five districts—Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Muzaffarnagar, and Prayagraj—and will be headed by the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship.
Salient Features of the Program:

Training Mode: Residential as well as non-residential training

Training Skills: Home cooking, home cleaning, care, repair of appliances

Delivery Partners: Private and government training institutions

Post-Training Support: Candidates will be listed on a central online platform to enable easy recruitment by households
The objective is to build a reliable, capable service network that bridges the household demand-youth employment gap. Officials emphasized ensuring quality training, health and safety standards, and service classification to ensure the program in the long run.
Mission Director Pulkit Khare added, "This programme will not only impart young people with actionable skills but also build a reliable ecosystem for domestic services." An electronic roster of trained applicants shall be maintained to facilitate easy access for citizens.
