The Odisha government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Technologies to upgrade 22 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Centres of Excellence (CoEs). With a project cost of ₹779 crore, the initiative will modernize training infrastructure, equip ITIs with advanced labs, and make Odisha’s youth industry-ready.
In a significant step toward strengthening skill development, the Odisha government has partnered with Tata Technologies to transform 22 ITIs into Centres of Excellence (CoEs). The MoU, signed at the World Skill Centre in Bhubaneswar, involves a total investment of ₹779 crore, with Tata Technologies contributing 86% and the state government covering 14%.
The upgraded ITIs will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, industry-grade equipment, and modern training facilities, aligning vocational education with global industrial standards. Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain emphasized that the initiative will focus on making Odisha’s youth “industry-ready,” bridging the gap between academic learning and practical skills.
