Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has officially launched the second edition of the Samarth Championship for Blind Cricket 2025, reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment for persons with disabilities. This international bilateral series, part of the ‘Samarth by Hyundai’ initiative, will see the Indian Men’s Blind Cricket Team face off against South Africa in a five-match T20 series at Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium, Muddenahalli, Bengaluru, from May 12 to 16, 2025.
Key Highlights:
The championship is jointly organized by HMIF, the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Hyundai’s NGO partner for this initiative.
Following a victorious inaugural edition against Sri Lanka, this year’s event aims to provide a global platform for visually impaired athletes, promoting both physical and social development.
The Samarth initiative, launched in November 2023, is Hyundai’s flagship CSR program focused on building an inclusive society through mobility, accessibility, and awareness campaigns.
Hyundai has made significant strides in accessibility, including making its website user-friendly for persons with disabilities and ensuring most dealerships are wheelchair accessible.
The event underscores Hyundai’s vision of fostering equity and raising public awareness about the capabilities of persons with disabilities, with support from media partners and the involvement of brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan.
The Samarth program also includes assistive devices distribution and para-sports support, furthering holistic empowerment for the differently abled.
