The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has emerged as the top-ranked Indian institution in the QS World University Rankings 2026, climbing to the 123rd global position, its highest-ever placement. This marks a dramatic leap of 27 spots from last year and over 70 places in just two years, reflecting the institute’s growing global stature.

- IIT Delhi ranks 123rd globally, tied with Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.
- It outpaced IIT Bombay (129th) and IIT Madras (180th), becoming India’s highest-ranked university.
- The institute excelled in Employer Reputation (50th globally), Citations per Faculty (86th), Academic Reputation (142nd), and Sustainability (172nd).
- India now has 54 institutions in the QS rankings—its highest ever—making it the fourth most represented country after the US, UK, and China.
