IMD Issues Orange Alert For Heavy Rain In 10 Kerala Districts As Monsoon Intensifies

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall across 10 districts in Kerala, warning of potential flooding and landslides. The alert comes as the southwest monsoon regains strength after a brief pause, bringing intense showers to the region.  

Key Highlights Of The Weather Alert  
- The orange alert covers Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Kottayam.  
- A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha.  
- Heavy rainfall between 7-11 cm is expected in 24 hours, with isolated very heavy rainfall reaching 12-20 cm.  
- The IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 20 cm in some areas between June 14 and June 17.
