India and Denmark reaffirmed their mutual cooperation in developing clean energy via a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), where they pledge allegiance to India's ambitious plan of realizing net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2070. The updated agreement signed by India's Ministry of Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal and Ambassador Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen of Denmark solidifies half a decade of successful partnership from 2020.

The new partnership broadens its scope to include new issues like power system modeling, variable renewable energy integration, cross-border electricity trade, and the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. It also prioritizes knowledge exchange in the form of expert exchanges, joint training schemes, and study tours for building capacity and innovation.

Manohar Lal, Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs in India, stressed the partnership as a bold step towards sustainable development and energy security. With India planning to install 25GW of clean energy during 2024-25, this partnership plays a vital role in driving India's green shift.
