In a landmark move to bolster national security and self-reliance, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has cleared 10 capital acquisition proposals worth ₹1.05 lakh crore on July 3, 2025. All procurements fall under the ‘Buy (Indian–IDDM)’ category, reinforcing the government’s push for indigenous defence manufacturing.
The approvals span across land, air, and maritime domains, including Armoured Recovery Vehicles, Electronic Warfare Systems, Surface-to-Air Missiles, and a Tri-Services Integrated Inventory Management System. For the Navy, the green light includes Moored Mines, Mine Counter Measure Vessels, Super Rapid Gun Mounts, and Submersible Autonomous Vessels, aimed at enhancing underwater and coastal defence.
