Carbon Clean, a global leader in carbon capture solutions, has officially opened its Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Navi Mumbai, India, marking a major leap forward for industrial decarbonisation. The GIC, spanning over 77,000 square feet, is now one of the world’s largest dedicated carbon capture research facilities, housing two operational plants and state-of-the-art labs for solvent development, analysis, and testing.
Key Highlights:
Innovation Hub: The GIC will accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) technologies, supporting Carbon Clean’s global growth and research ambitions.
Workforce & Scale: The centre currently employs over 100 experts, with plans to scale up to 350, and will serve as a demonstration site for breakthrough modular solutions like CycloneCC.
Strategic Partnerships: The launch underscores deepening UK-India ties in clean technology, with ongoing pilot projects involving major Indian industry players such as BHP, JSW, NTPC, and Tata Steel.
Global Impact: The facility is positioned to help hard-to-abate sectors—cement, steel, refineries—meet net zero targets, especially as carbon regulation tightens in the EU and UK.
Outlook:
With India poised to announce a national CCUS mission, Carbon Clean’s GIC is set to become a global benchmark for carbon capture innovation, driving industrial decarbonisation and international collaboration.
