John Neuffer, CEO of Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), praised India's growing contribution to the world semiconductor industry at the 9th Carnegie Global Tech Summit in New Delhi. He noted that India now has 20% of the world's semiconductor talent, which indicates its strength in chip design and increasing manufacturing capabilities.
Neuffer mentioned that India has developed significantly in the last two years and six of its large-scale manufacturing ventures have started, from test packaging to assembly and factory production. He emphasized the ability of India to shift its base from design-based operations to complete end-to-end manufacturing, facilitated by bilateral trade relations and confidence initiatives.
India's pool of engineering resources, producing 8 lakh new engineers annually, places it at the core of the global community to alleviate semiconductor labor shortages. These accomplishments are part of India's strategic initiatives to become a semiconductor hub through cooperative relationships and indigenous initiatives.
