India is poised to receive its first batch of three Apache AH-64E attack helicopters from the United States by July 15, marking a major milestone in the $600 million defense deal signed in 2020. The delivery follows a high-level phone call between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on July 1, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening military cooperation.

The remaining three helicopters are scheduled for delivery in November 2025, completing the six-unit order for the Indian Army. These Apaches will be deployed at the Jodhpur-based 451 Aviation Squadron, which has been awaiting the aircraft for over 15 months. The helicopters are expected to significantly enhance India’s combat readiness along the western border, especially in light of recent operations like Operation Sindoor.

The AH-64E Apache Guardian is equipped with Hellfire missiles, 30mm chain guns, Longbow radar, and drone control capabilities, making it one of the most advanced multi-role combat helicopters in the world.
