India’s indigenous BrahMos missile system has received high praise from Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov, who described its performance as “exemplary” during the recent Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. The operation, which took place earlier this month, saw India deploying both the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and the Russian-origin S-400 air defence system with remarkable effectiveness.
Key Highlights
Exemplary Performance:
Russian envoy Denis Alipov lauded the BrahMos missile, co-developed by India and Russia, for its precision and impact during Operation Sindoor, calling its performance “exemplary.”
The S-400 system was also credited with successfully intercepting and neutralizing Pakistani drones and missiles in the aftermath of India’s targeted strikes on terrorist camps.
Operational Success:
The Indian Armed Forces executed precise actions after identifying terrorist targets, with the BrahMos playing a pivotal role in achieving mission objectives.
The operation, conducted from May 7 to 10, highlighted the battle-readiness and deterrent capability of India’s domestically manufactured defence systems.
Strengthening Defence Ties:
The success of BrahMos underscores the deepening India-Russia defence partnership, which now extends beyond procurement to joint research, development, and production of advanced military technologies.
Ongoing discussions between New Delhi and Moscow may soon lead to further procurement of S-400 systems and expanded collaboration on projects like BrahMos.
Strategic Impact:
The effectiveness of the BrahMos in real combat conditions reinforces India’s self-reliance in defence and its ability to respond decisively to cross-border threats.
