India’s Cyber Watchdog Roars: Anti-National Content Faces Legal Heat

In a sweeping move to curb online radicalization and misinformation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in coordination with intelligence and cybersecurity agencies, has rolled out a robust framework to counter antiIndia content circulating on social media platforms. The initiative follows a surge in provocative material linked to terror outfits and separatist elements.

Social media platforms will be formally notified of their responsibilities under the new framework
Platforms must actively monitor and suppress antinational and misleading content using internal tools

Recent Enforcement Actions:

Videos linked to Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and gangster Goldie Brar have already been blocked
A nationallevel monitoring team is being formed to track and neutralize digital threats
Coordination meetings have been held between the Ministries of Home, Law, IT, and Communications to finalize enforcement protocols
