IndiGo is boosting its UK-India air connectivity by increasing flight frequency from Delhi and Mumbai to Manchester starting November 2025. This expansion includes launching a new Delhi-Manchester route alongside the existing Mumbai service, aiming to strengthen trade, tourism, and business ties between India and the UK.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is set to enhance its long-haul international footprint by increasing flight frequencies between Delhi, Mumbai, and Manchester, UK, starting November 2025. This move comes as part of IndiGo’s global expansion strategy, building on its first-ever European long-haul route launched in July 2025 from Mumbai to Manchester. The airline will now introduce a new direct Delhi-Manchester service, operating four times a week, complementing the existing Mumbai-Manchester flights that have increased from three to five weekly departures. This development makes Manchester Airport the only UK airport outside London to have direct flights from both Delhi and Mumbai.
Expanded UK-India Connectivity
From November, total direct weekly flights between India and Manchester will rise to nine – five from Mumbai and four from Delhi.
The newly launched Delhi-Manchester flights mark IndiGo’s long-haul debut from India’s primary hub, expanding its international operations significantly from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
Economic and Employment Impact
The enhanced connectivity is projected to generate over £33.5 million in annual exports and £26 million in tourism revenue from Indian visitors to the UK.
The expansion is expected to create around 500 new jobs in Manchester and lead to productivity gains exceeding £26 million for UK businesses leveraging improved links with India.
State-of-the-art Infrastructure Utilization
All flights will operate through Manchester’s recently upgraded £1.3 billion Terminal 2, providing modern facilities and improved passenger experience.
The airline will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on these routes, offering a blend of economy and tailored business-class services.
Strategic Positioning and Future Growth
CEO Pieter Elbers emphasized that Delhi is central to IndiGo’s growth, and expanding international routes from the capital will enhance seamless connectivity between India and key global markets.
This initiative aligns with IndiGo’s vision to become a global aviation leader by 2030 through strengthening hubs and expanding long-haul operations.
Overall, IndiGo’s increased flight frequencies and new Delhi-Manchester services are a significant step towards boosting skies between India and the UK, supporting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange while reinforcing IndiGo’s position as a dominant player in international air travel.
