New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has started his official trip to Vietnam (February 25-28, 2025) with the purpose of strengthening trade and educational ties. Luxon, accompanied by a 20-member business delegation, aims to promote economic collaboration and achieve the bilateral trade target of USD 3 billion by 2026. Two-way trade between the two nations has grown by 123% since 2015.
Luxon will meet Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to discuss expanding partnerships across agriculture, education, and technology. He will also address the ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi, where he will outline New Zealand's support for ASEAN's centrality to regional stability.
The visit falls on the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-New Zealand diplomatic relations and will witness the signing of a number of cooperation agreements, further enhancing bilateral ties.
