At a ceremony in the capital, President Murmu conferred the prestigious National Water Awards and Jal Sanchay-Jan Bhagidari Awards, recognizing excellence in water conservation across states, districts, institutions, and individuals. She reminded the audience that India’s national song begins with “Sujalam,” symbolizing abundant water, underscoring the deep cultural and civilizational link to water resources.
The President stressed that *climate change is disrupting the water cycle*, making efficient use of limited resources critical for India’s large population. She urged collective action at every level—families, local bodies, and governments—to ensure water security. The awards, organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, honored 46 winners across 10 categories, including Best State, Best District, Best Village Panchayat, and Best Industry.
