In a sustainability and innovation milestone moment, India's first race car made from purely electronic waste, called "Recover-E," was launched in Mumbai by Envision Energy together with EARTHDAY.ORG.

Top Highlights:

Recover-E is made solely out of rejected electronics like mobile phones, laptops, and tablets and is the leading example of circular design and eco-friendly engineering.

This is only the second such vehicle in the world, preceded by a comparable scheme at the London E-Prix in 2023.

The project aims to highlight India's growing e-waste problem; the nation has become the world's third-largest producer of e-waste after a five-year increase of 72.5%.

The launch ceremony, conducted at the Radio Club in Mumbai, comprised a mix of technology, art, and activism, with a live music performance and panel discussion by environmentalists and artists.

The Recover-E project coincides with the 55th Earth Day anniversary and this year's worldwide theme of "Our Power, Our Planet," promoting clean energy and circular economy.

RPV Prasad, Managing Director at Envision Energy India, defined the car as a step in the direction of greener options, proving that technology and sustainability go hand-in-hand.

James Mercer, Commercial Director at Envision Racing, highlighted the symbolic nature of the car, encouraging society to challenge waste as an asset and to adopt innovation in pursuit of a sustainable future.

Although not meant for commercial manufacturing, the Recover-E vehicle is aimed at initiating discussions on responsible consumption, e-waste disposal, and the possibility of future car components being sourced from recycled electronics.
