Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called the naming of the new Prime Minister’s Office complex as ‘Seva Teerth’ a “milestone” in India’s journey towards people‑centric governance. He said the name, combining ‘service’ and ‘sacred place’, reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of the PMO as a temple of public service, not power.

New PMO, new symbolism
The PMO is moving from the 78‑year‑old South Block to a modern complex within the Central Vista Executive Enclave, with the three main blocks titled Seva Teerth‑1, 2 and 3. Seva Teerth‑1 will house the Prime Minister’s Office, while the other two buildings will accommodate the Cabinet Secretariat and the National Security Advisor’s Office, consolidating the core of the Union government in a single, high‑security campus.
Key highlights

Amit Shah said renaming the PMO as ‘Seva Teerth’ captures 11 years of a governance model rooted in “service, sensitivity and good governance” rather than authority.

As part of the same initiative, Raj Bhavans and Raj Niwas residences across states and Union Territories are being retitled Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas to emphasise public ownership of institutions.

The Central Vista Executive Enclave is designed to modernise decision‑making infrastructure with upgraded security, digital systems and collaborative workspaces for the PMO, Cabinet Secretariat and NSCS.

Shah termed the step a milestone on the path to a “Viksit Bharat”, arguing that names and spaces should constantly remind those in power that they are “pradhan sevaks”, or chief servants of the people.
