Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement that India's indigenous semiconductor chip is set to come into production in 2025. This seminal achievement is all under the ambit of the Semicon India mission of the government, which was aimed at achieving a strong manufacturing ecosystem for semiconductors in the nation. The chip, created as a joint endeavor with Tata Electronics and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, will come into production within India's first semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat. This move is a major milestone towards India's vision of emerging as a world hub for the production of semiconductors and cutting down on imports in this key technology area.
