Starting April 1, 2025, UPI services on Google Pay, PhonePe, and other apps will stop working for users with inactive or reassigned mobile numbers. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has mandated that banks remove such numbers from UPI-linked accounts to prevent fraud and technical glitches. Users must ensure their mobile numbers are active and linked to their bank accounts to avoid disruptions. Inactive numbers can be reactivated or updated with new ones to maintain uninterrupted service. This move aims to enhance security and reliability in digital transactions.
