KEI Industries Ltd is set to commence commercial production at its greenfield cable manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat, by December 10, 2025. The facility’s initial phase covers low and medium voltage cables, with an export-oriented focus on extra-high voltage (EHV) cables planned in later stages.
KEI Industries Ltd announced that the first phase of operations at its Sanand manufacturing facility in Gujarat will start commercial production by December 10, 2025. The trial production at this greenfield plant has begun successfully, signaling the company’s readiness to scale up operations.
This new facility will initially produce low and medium voltage cables, catering to a domestic market that continues to see expansion. The advanced plant will be equipped with vertical continuous vulcanization (VCV) lines specifically designed for the production of extra-high voltage (EHV) cables, which are expected to commence by the fourth quarter of FY 2026-27.
The Sanand plant will strengthen KEI’s capacity for export, particularly for EHV cables rated up to 500kV, exceeding the current Chopanki plant’s 400kV capability. The first phase alone is expected to contribute Rs 3,000 crore to KEI’s revenue starting Q4/FY26, with the full capacity projected at Rs 6,000 crore annually.
The project faced delays due to prolonged rains and labor challenges during construction. However, KEI’s management confirms smooth progress, with the first production tower already at considerable height and work on schedule to meet the intended commissioning date.
