Key highlights

Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is intensifying its support for startups in the state to thrive at the international level, launching a range of fresh initiatives, collaborations, and funding options that enable entrepreneurs to scale their concepts from Kochi to the globe.

Expanding Horizons: Accessing International Markets

KSUM has initiated focused programs to facilitate startups tapping foreign markets, such as the International Exchange Program, which provides travel assistance of up to 90 percent for founders visiting pitch sessions, expos, or bootcamps outside the country. This effectively reduces the barriers for Kerala-based innovators to take part in top events from Silicon Valley and Singapore to Tel Aviv and London.

More than 80 startups have already gained from such initiatives in the last year, with valuable exposure, acquiring new customers, and joint ventures in markets such as Europe and the Middle East.

The Explore & Expand program is aimed at assisting talented startups in determining worldwide demand, localizing products for international markets, and establishing important worldwide networks.

Comprehensive Support System

Startups have access to world-class mentorship, international industry connections, and government-supported funding through the LEAPX program—accelerating investor introductions, business matching, and pilot projects overseas.

KSUM partners with international accelerators like Brinc (Hong Kong) and Zone Startups, offering domain-specific training to hardware, AI, and emerging tech startups to enable them to address foreign regulations and scale sooner.

Student and early-stage innovators are privileged to have experiential learning experiences in top world-class universities and cross-border exchange programs.

Bridging Gaps, Showcasing Excellence

Kerala in 2025 plans to take delegations to 15+ global startup festivals, and host its own Global Innovation Startup Festival as a bridge for international collaboration. KSUM's dedication goes as far as bringing in foreign startups to Kerala, establishing the state as not just a source for outbound founders but also a landing zone for overseas innovators looking to tap into the Indian market.

Results and Road Ahead

KSUM's integrated policy, incubator, and investment ecosystem has nurtured more than 6,500 startups and hosted over 350 foreign delegations so far, positioning Kerala as a major contributor to India's march towards a knowledge-led, globally connected economy.
