India's first residential township for Japan alone is being developed in Gurugram Sector 81, a reflection of Indo-Japanese business and cultural integration. AJU Ryokan Group is developing the township—AJU Japan Town—which aims to give Japanese expatriates a home that mirrors their way of life and offers community and comfort.

Major points of the project:

The township will have 128 one to four-bedroom luxury units with Japanese fittings like ToTo washlets, air purifiers, bathtubs, rice cookers, and IH stoves

Recreational facilities include a public bath, sauna, steam rooms, karaoke lounges, gym, golf practice range, and wellness centers

There will be business facilities which will have a Japanese restaurant, café, convenience store, supermarket, and private business spaces like meeting rooms and a banquet hall

The project is well positioned in close vicinity to IMT Manesar, airport, and major NCR corporate hubs, with ideal connectivity

Cultural and diplomatic significance:

Foundation stone laying was conducted on 4th July 2025 in the presence of Embassy of Japan, JETRO, JCCII, and JICA officials.

The township will act as a bridge culturally, giving Japanese citizens a friendly surrounding abroad

AJU Ryokan Group has hosted Japanese citizens in eight Indian cities for over 16 years, building trust and cultural understanding

Looking forward:

Expected completion by the end of 2026

There are proposals to create such Japanese-only settlements elsewhere in India
