GPT Infraprojects Bags ₹3.51 Billion Railway Order, Strengthens Eastern India Infrastructure Play

GPT Infraprojects Ltd has secured a ₹3.51 billion contract from South Eastern Railway for the construction of a major bridge and associated infrastructure in West Bengal. The project, awarded under the EPC mode, reinforces GPT’s leadership in railway civil works and adds to its robust order book.

Key Highlights:

The contract involves construction of Bridge No. 57 over the Rupnarayan River, featuring 2x30.5m OWG, 7x91.4m OWG, and 2x30.5m OWG spans.
Viaducts on both approaches will include 11x30.5m and 15x30.5m composite girders, enhancing connectivity along the Howrah–Kharagpur route.
The scope also includes development of Kolaghat Station on elevated platforms, realigned to accommodate the new bridge structure.

Strategic Context:

The project is part of South Eastern Railway’s capacity augmentation and safety enhancement program in the Kharagpur division.
GPT’s execution will leverage its Simhadri TMT brand and integrated steel fabrication capabilities, recently expanded with a 10,000 MT girder facility.
The company’s infrastructure segment contributes over 95 percent of revenue, with strong execution across bridges, viaducts, and sleeper manufacturing.

Market Outlook:

Analysts expect the order to boost GPT’s FY26 topline by 10–12 percent, with margin support from backward integration and fixed-cost absorption.
