Khurja STPP Powers Up: NTPC Declares Commercial Operation of Unit II

In a major milestone for India’s thermal power infrastructure, NTPC Limited has officially declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of Unit II at the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (STPP), operated by THDC India Limited. The announcement marks a significant step in bolstering the country’s energy generation capacity.

Key Highlights:

1. Unit II of Khurja STPP, with a capacity of 660 MW, commenced commercial operations on September 24, 2025.
2. The plant is located in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, and is being developed by THDC India Limited, a joint venture between NTPC and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
3. With this declaration, the total operational capacity of Khurja STPP now stands at 1,320 MW, following the earlier commissioning of Unit I.
