Boeing subsidiary Liquid Robotics and India’s Sagar Defence Engineering have signed an MoU to co-develop and co-produce scaled Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) systems. This partnership, supported by the U.S. and Indian governments, aligns with the US-India Defense Industrial Cooperation Roadmap, enhancing maritime security and undersea domain awareness (UDA). The collaboration will leverage Liquid Robotics’ Wave Glider technology and Sagar Defence’s expertise in vehicle control systems and sensor integration. Production of these USVs, aimed at bolstering the Indian Navy’s capabilities, is expected to begin by 2025. The initiative also underscores India’s vision of Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defense manufacturing, strengthening regional security in the Indo-Pacific.
