A new gecko species with dramatic golden eyes and a Van Gogh-esque pattern of swirling colors has been found in India's Western Ghats. Cnemaspis vangoghi, or the 'Starry Night' Gecko, is just a few centimeters long but has a profound impact on anyone who sees it. Its distinct coloration, with a blue and orange body, light blue spots, and stripes, has amazed scientists and art lovers. Gecko was located in pine woodlands at low altitude on the east slopes of Western Ghats in the S Putur Mega Malai tiger reserve. The rich biodiversity of India and the untapped species existing in Indian forests is established with this find.
