L&T Secures Large Hydrocarbon Onshore Order from Petronet LNG

Mumbai, January 16, 2026 Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that its Hydrocarbon Onshore vertical has secured a prestigious contract from Petronet LNG, a joint venture promoted by ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, and BPCL. The project will be executed on a Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) basis, covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

The order is part of India’s first integrated petrochemical complex that leverages LNG cold energy, aimed at bridging the polypropylene demand-supply gap and strengthening domestic petrochemical manufacturing capacity.

Key Highlights

Project Scope:

• Construction of a 170,000 m³ LNG/Ethane double-wall storage tank.
• Construction of a 140,000 m³ Propane double-wall storage tank.
• Ethane and propane handling and dispatch facilities to support downstream petrochemical plants.

Strategic Importance:

• First petrochemical complex in India to integrate LNG cold energy utilization.
• Supports the Government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by boosting indigenous petrochemical capacity.

Order Classification:

• Categorized as a Large Order, valued between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore.
