On Maharashtra Day, renowned cake artist Prachi Dhabal Deb unveiled a stunning edible masterpiece that pays tribute to the state's rich cultural heritage. Crafted with vegan royal icing, the cake replicates elements of traditional Maharashtrian attire, including a Paithani saree, Vajratik neckpiece, Chinchpeti, Jhumkas, Bangles, Sindoor box, and Nath.
Prachi expressed her deep connection to Maharashtra, stating, "This cake is my heartfelt tribute to the glorious state of Maharashtra. Creating this piece was deeply personal for me."
The cake features a meticulously piped Paithani saree border, adorned with vibrant peacocks made from over 25,000 royal icing dots, reflecting the intricate artistry of Maharashtra’s handloom patterns. Additionally, edible Maharashtrian jewelry, including Thushi, Nath, Bugadi, and Kolhapuri Saaj, adds a regal touch to the creation.
Weighing around 50 kg and standing 4 feet tall, the cake is topped with a hand-piped replica of the New Kolhapur Palace, symbolizing Maharashtra’s architectural grandeur.
Prachi has previously gained recognition for her monumental edible structures, including a 100 kg Milan Cathedral-inspired piece and a 200 kg vegan royal icing palace celebrating Indian architecture.
