Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has announced that she has no interest whatsoever in becoming part of the Hollywood bandwagon, even though the trend of Indian thespians making an impact in the West is on the rise. Answering questions at the elite WAVES 2025 Summit in Mumbai, Kareena spoke directly about the issue during an honest panel discussion with director Karan Johar and actor Vijay Deverakonda.
When she was asked if she was contemplating Hollywood offers, Kareena had this to say with typical sarcasm and pride:
"Main to yahi pe hu. I am quite satisfied with my Indian films and acting. Bada mazaa aata hai. Humare Hindi film gaane pe dance karna. Bada mazaa aata hai Hindi dialogues bolna. Bhatinda ki Sikhni hu bhai."
("I'm here. I'm thoroughly enjoying my Indian films and acting. I love it. I enjoy dancing to our Hindi film music. I really enjoy reciting Hindi dialogues. I'm a Sikhni from Bhatinda.")
Kareena reiterated her strong passion for Indian films, saying she derives great pleasure from dancing to Bollywood song-and-dance numbers and speaking dialogues in Hindi. She reasserted that she does not need to act in Hollywood to become known worldwide, recounting an incident where she was praised by legendary director Steven Spielberg for her performance in "3 Idiots":
"Spielberg was at the same restaurant. This was ages ago when 3 Idiots had only just come out. He actually came over to me and said, 'Are you the girl who's in that extremely popular Indian movie about three students?' I said, 'Yes, that's me.' He said, 'My God, I love that movie.'"
Throughout the session, Kareena also reminisced about her memorable line from "Jab We Met" - "Main apni favourite hoon" ("I am my own favourite") - underlining its significance as a message of women empowerment and self-love:
"Ye line bohot hi important hai because every girl, every woman should always say this line. Ki main apni favourite hoon boss. I think that's the best thing."
Kareena's remarks are made at a time when many of her peers, such as Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, have undertaken big-ticket Hollywood assignments. But for Kareena, though, Indian cinema is where her heart lies, and she has no intention of making the jump abroad anytime in the near future.
