Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Goa State Disaster Management Authority to introduce an AI-driven disaster detection and management system. The agreement, signed on 20th March 2025, is designed to strengthen Goa's emergency response and disaster preparedness.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant underscored that this collaboration makes the state a leader in AI-powered disaster management in India. The project is anticipated to provide quicker coordination, hassle-free communication, and enhanced disaster resilience in Goa.
This joint effort is part of MDL's efforts at diversification from shipbuilding, taking advantage of its experience in state-of-the-art technologies to give back to the civilian sector. The AI system is expected to drastically cut the risk to life and property when natural calamities such as floods, cyclones, and landslides occur.
