Bollywood star and passionate animal rights advocate John Abraham is set to launch “Lakadbaggha: The Prologue,” a graphic novel adaptation of the acclaimed 2023 vigilante action film “Lakadbaggha.” The comic book will be unveiled on May 26 in Mumbai, with the film’s creators and special cast, including Ridhi Dogra, in attendance. This marks a bold new chapter for India’s homegrown animal-loving hero, Arjun Bakshi, and signals the birth of an ambitious comic universe.
Key Highlights:
A Hero for the Voiceless: Written by actor-filmmaker Anshuman Jha and illustrated by American comic artist Brittain Peck, “Lakadbaggha: The Prologue” introduces readers to Arjun Bakshi—a martial arts trainer and animal lover who turns vigilante after his beloved dog goes missing. His quest uncovers a sinister illegal animal trade in Kolkata, setting the stage for a gritty, action-packed saga where compassion meets courage.
Personal Passion: For Anshuman Jha, the comic is a childhood dream realized. Inspired by Indian classics like Chacha Choudhary and Nagraj, Jha always imagined a hero who would fight for animals and the voiceless, not just on screen but in print. “If you harm animals or nature, Arjun Bakshi is coming for you—in comics, in cinema, in spirit,” Jha says.
Global Collaboration: Brittain Peck brings a dynamic visual style to the project, aiming to create a comic hero that today’s kids can look up to. The graphic novel is published by Om Books International and First Ray Films, promising a visually stunning and emotionally resonant experience.
Franchise Potential: The launch is not just a one-off event but the foundation for a wider “animal lover vigilante universe.” With a film sequel in the works, the franchise aims to inspire audiences to stand up for animals and the environment.
Star-Studded Launch: John Abraham’s involvement underscores the project’s commitment to animal welfare and social impact. Known for his advocacy, Abraham’s support is expected to draw significant attention to the comic’s message and mission.
“Lakadbaggha: The Prologue” is poised to become a landmark in Indian pop culture, blending thrilling storytelling with a powerful call to protect the voiceless.
