Metso Corporation has announced a major contract win to supply a new iron ore sintering plant to SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in Asansol, West Bengal. The €32 million order, booked in Q3 FY2025 under Metso’s Ferrous business, marks the third sintering facility Metso will deliver to this site.
The plant will feature Metso’s Emission Optimised Sintering (EOS) technology, designed to significantly reduce solid fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions by over 54,000 tonnes annually. With a production capacity of 2.67 million tonnes per year, the facility is a cornerstone of SAIL ISP’s broader 4 MTPA crude steel expansion initiative.
