Indigenous Arsenal Comes into Forefront
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a top-level meeting with his Council of Ministers, re-emphasized the need for indigenous defense systems after India conducted successful strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
The meeting, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, was the first formal one after Operation Sindoor, India's counter-attack against the Pahalgam terror strike.
Modi underscored that locally produced weapons demonstrated their potency during the operation, reinforcing the administration's resolve to prioritize 'Make in India' defense platforms.
Strategic Vision and Policy Direction
The Prime Minister directed ministers to pay attention to quality governance so that India's defense capabilities keep pace with changing war demands.
He emphasized that India is becoming a leading trading power, so the quality of products as well as governance is essential.
Ministers were asked to project government achievements effectively, so that they project clearly in public outreach efforts.
Operation Sindoor: Turning Point
A classified presentation of Operation Sindoor was presented, showcasing its effects on Pakistan's military infrastructure.
Reports state that Pakistan has recognized the widespread damage caused during the operation.
Modi once again reaffirmed that India's defense strategy should keep changing, with indigenous weapons at the core.
Government's Long-Term Goals
The session also dwelt on the one-year anniversary of the NDA's third term, to be observed on June 9.
Ministers were also asked to emphasize five major achievements of their ministries in the past during coming public outreach activities.
Modi stressed that although the past must be remembered for its achievement, work must go on towards newer goals and milestones.
