Mumbai woke up to a chaotic Monday as relentless monsoon rains flooded roads, delayed flights, and threw the city’s transport systems into disarray. With waterlogging and low visibility across key routes, both IndiGo and SpiceJet issued travel advisories urging passengers to check flight statuses and allow extra time for airport procedures.

Key Highlights:
  • Flight Disruptions: Operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were hit by delays due to poor visibility and waterlogged access roads. IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India warned of possible rescheduling and urged flyers to monitor updates.
  • Train Delays: Suburban services on Central and Western Railway lines ran behind schedule, with delays of up to 30 minutes reported during peak hours.
  • Metro Glitch: Services on the Ghatkopar–Andheri–Versova Metro line were briefly halted after strong winds blew a plastic sheet onto overhead wires at Azad Nagar station. Operations have since resumed.
  • IMD Alerts: The India Meteorological Department issued an Orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, and a Red alert for Raigad, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
  • Civic Impact: Several lowlying areas across the city and suburbs reported waterlogging, slowing down road traffic and prompting advisories to avoid nonessential travel.
With more rain expected, authorities are urging caution while commuters brace for another wet and weary day.
