Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has added a new six-coach train to its Green Line fleet, marking a significant step toward easing congestion and improving commuter experience. The train, assembled by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), arrived at the Peenya depot in late February and is now undergoing rigorous testing before deployment.
Boost To Green Line Operations
The new trainset, dispatched on February 18, has been formed and moved to the Inspection Bay Line for static and electrical circuit testing. Following this, it will undergo 750 km of trial runs during night hours on the mainline. Once cleared, it will be introduced into passenger service, enhancing capacity on the Green Line corridor.
Future Expansion Plans
BMRCL officials confirmed that TRSL will dispatch a second train later this month, with more units expected in the coming weeks. The addition of these trains is part of a larger plan to deploy a full fleet of 21 new six-coach trains, ensuring smoother operations and reducing overcrowding during peak hours.
Impact On Commuters
The Green Line, connecting Madavara to Silk Institute, has seen rising ridership. The new trains are expected to improve frequency, reduce waiting times, and provide a more comfortable travel experience for daily commuters.
