Neeraj Chopra, India’s Olympic gold medallist and reigning world champion in javelin, is gearing up to dazzle at the Paris Diamond League 2025 on June 20 at Stade Sebastien-Charlety. This event marks his much-anticipated return to Paris after an eight-year break. Chopra last graced the Paris Diamond League in 2017, where he finished fifth, and he opted out of the 2024 edition to concentrate on the Paris Olympics. Now, he’s back and in record-breaking form!

Key Highlights
Historic Return: Chopra’s last appearance at the Paris Diamond League was in 2017, where he threw an impressive 84.67m and secured fifth place.

Record-Breaking Season: In May 2025, Chopra set a new national record with a stunning 90.23m throw at the Doha Diamond League, becoming just the 25th man in history to surpass the 90m mark.

Consistent Top Finishes: Since winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics, he has maintained an incredible streak of 22 consecutive top-two finishes. Recently, he placed second at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Poland (84.14m) and at Doha (90.23m), both times finishing behind Germany’s Julian Weber.

Busy International Calendar: After Paris, Chopra is scheduled to compete at the Golden Spike meet in Czechia on June 24 and will headline the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5, drawing in global javelin stars.

Road to Zurich: Chopra is on a mission to gather enough points to qualify for the Diamond League Final in Zurich on August 27–28.

Chopra’s return to Paris not only highlights his elite status in the sport but also sets the stage for an exhilarating javelin showdown as he aims for the Diamond League crown and continues to chase new milestones.
