With the five-match Test series against England right around the corner, the BCCI has made an important change to Team India’s support staff. The move comes as the team enters a new era, with a younger squad and fresh leadership set to take on a big challenge overseas.

Here’s what’s happening:

Adrian le Roux is back as strength and conditioning coach. He’s no stranger to Indian cricket, having worked with the team back in the early 2000s. The BCCI hopes his experience will help the players stay fit and ready for the long, demanding series in England. He replaces Soham Desai in the role.

New faces in leadership. Shubman Gill has been named Test captain, stepping in after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired. Rishabh Pant is the vice-captain, and Gautam Gambhir is the head coach. It’s a big moment for this young group, as they look to win a Test series in England for the first time since 2007.

Preparation is in full swing. The team is already in London, practicing at Lord’s and getting used to the conditions. The fast bowlers—Bumrah, Siraj, Arshdeep, and Prasidh—are putting in the work, and players like Pant and Jadeja are looking sharp.

A new look for the squad. There are several newcomers, including Sai Sudharsan, as India begins a new chapter in Test cricket and starts its campaign in the new World Test Championship cycle.

The first Test starts June 20 in Leeds, with the series running through early August.

It’s a fresh start for Team India, and fans will be watching closely to see how this new lineup performs in England.
