Flydubai is set to make aviation history on June 1, 2025, as it becomes the first UAE airline to resume direct flights to Damascus after a 12-year suspension. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in regional connectivity and reflects the warming of ties between the UAE and Syria.

Key Highlights:
  • Daily Service Returns: Flydubai will operate daily flights from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Damascus International Airport (DAM), offering both business and economy class options. The outbound flight FZ 115 departs Dubai at 6:30 am, arriving in Damascus at 8:45 am, while the return FZ 116 leaves Damascus at 10:00 am, landing in Dubai at 2:20 pm.
  • Historic Route Restored: Damascus was among Flydubai’s first destinations when it launched in 2009, but flights were halted in 2012 due to the Syrian civil war. The resumption follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s approval earlier this year, and comes just in time for the busy Eid Al Adha and summer travel season.
  • Leadership Comments: CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith expressed pride in being the first national carrier to reconnect the two cities, emphasizing Damascus’s cultural and historical significance. Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President, highlighted the convenience and new travel opportunities for passengers across Flydubai’s extensive network.
  • Regional Impact: The move underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering regional ties and opens up new avenues for business, tourism, and family reunification between the nations.
Flydubai’s return to Damascus signals a new chapter in Middle East aviation, promising greater connectivity and renewed opportunities for travelers.
